Bulk Oils for Food Manufacturers

Bulk olive oil and food-grade aromatics for manufacturers

We supply olive oil and food-grade essential oils in bulk to food manufacturers, co-packers and distributors in Canada and the United States, quoted by volume against your specification.

What we supply

How we quote food volumes

Tell us the grade, the annual volume and the packaging you need, and we will quote against it. Olive oil in particular moves with the harvest, so pricing is quoted per lot rather than held on a public list.

Specifications and documentation come with the quote, not after it. Free acidity, peroxide value and the certificate of analysis for the lot are what a food buyer checks first, so we lead with them.

Packaging runs from drums to flexitank depending on volume. Tell us how you receive goods and we will quote the format that fits your intake.

Choosing between extra virgin and pomace

These are different products bought for different reasons, and buyers who treat them as grades of the same thing tend to overpay for one or misuse the other.

Extra virgin olive oil Mechanically extracted from the fruit with no solvent and no refining. Carries the polyphenols, the colour and the peppery bitterness. Free acidity at or below 0.8 percent as oleic acid under the standard trade definition. Bought where the oil is tasted in the finished product: dressings, dips, finishing oils, premium retail bottling.
Olive pomace oil Extracted with solvent from the pomace left after pressing, then refined and usually blended with a proportion of virgin oil. Neutral in flavour, higher smoke point, materially cheaper. Bought where the oil is a process aid rather than a flavour: frying, bakery, canning, sauces and industrial food manufacture.

Our olive oils come from Tunisia, one of the largest producing countries in the world and the origin behind a good deal of oil sold under other flags. Buying it as Tunisian rather than through a re-exporter removes a margin layer and makes the provenance statement on your own label defensible.

Specifying olive oil so the lot matches the quote

Price per litre means little without the parameters attached. For extra virgin the ones that decide quality and price are free acidity, peroxide value, the K232 and K270 ultraviolet absorbency figures, and the organoleptic panel result. For refined and pomace grades the working parameters are free acidity, peroxide value, colour and the absence of off-flavour. Ask for all of them on the certificate of analysis and compare like with like, because a quote that omits them is not comparable to one that includes them.

Food safety documentation

Food manufacturers in Canada operate under the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations with a preventive control plan, and in the United States under FSMA. What that means in practice for an incoming raw material is a specification, a certificate of analysis for the lot, a safety data sheet, allergen status, and a supplier approval file that stands up to an audit.

Tell us what your preventive control plan or supplier approval programme requires when you send the enquiry, and we will confirm in writing what we can supply for that material and that lot. Where a document is not available we will say so up front, because finding out during an audit is worse than finding out during a quote.

Food-grade aromatics

Beyond the oils, the materials food and beverage manufacturers most often take from us are the citrus and herbaceous distillates used for flavour: lemon, lime, orange, lemongrass, ginger, clove and cinnamon leaf. These are potent and cost-efficient at dosage, but they are also the fastest to oxidise, so buy to your turnover rather than to a price break and keep containers cool, dark and closed.

Common questions from food manufacturers

What is the real difference in cost between extra virgin and pomace?

Enough that it changes a formulation decision, and it moves with the harvest. Tell us the volume and the application and we will quote both so you can see the gap against your own recipe cost rather than against a generic figure.

Where does your olive oil come from?

Tunisia. We state origin on the quote and on the lot documentation, so the provenance claim on your packaging is one you can evidence.

Can you supply against our specification and audit requirements?

Send the specification and the document list with the enquiry. We will quote to the specification and confirm which documents we can supply for the lot, in writing, before you place the order.

What volumes do you quote?

It depends on the material and the packaging format. Tell us your annual usage and delivery pattern and we will confirm what is workable and what it costs delivered.

Do you ship to the United States?

Yes, across Canada and the United States and internationally, with freight quoted so you see a landed cost.

Documentation and samples

Every bulk order ships with a technical data sheet, a safety data sheet and a certificate of analysis for the lot. Samples are available for evaluation before you commit to a volume, and we will quote against your own specification where you have one.
